From the Fabian Society:
I would like to invite you to hear Charles Waldegrave discuss this issue at Central Baptist Church, 46 Boulcott Street, Wellington at 5:30p on Monday 23rd November.
The combination of high rents, low homeownership, lack of supply, homelessness and reliable international ratings showing NZ housing to be one of the most unaffordable in the world, demonstrates a systemic housing crisis. It is not being adequately addressed, but it can be. We have done it before!
Charles Waldegrave is Coordinator of the Family Centre Social Policy Research Unit and also works as Co-Vicar at St Peters on Willis Street. He led the housing workstream as a member of the Welfare Expert Advisory Group and leads the team that sets NZ’s Living Wage annually. He also co-led the NZ Poverty Measurement Project which developed 7 of the 10 measures of poverty in the PM’s Child Poverty Reduction Act 2018 – they include housing costs.
If you would like to attend in person please register here. If you would like to watch on Zoom and ask questions, please register here and a Zoom link will be sent to you before the event. We will also livestream it on YouTube, where you can search for it on “NZ Fabian Society.”Read more
