Dame Silvia Cartwright: Cambodia, Crimes Against Humanity, Survival, and Justice

The Aotearoa New Zealand Human Rights Foundation invites you to a public seminar by Dame Silvia Cartwright, our Patron.

Dame Silvia served as Governor General of New Zealand from 2001 to 2006 after an illustrious career at the forefront on New Zealand’s judicial system.

In 2007, she was appointed as an international judge to the Cambodian War Trials Tribunal that was established to try leaders of the Khmer Rouge accused of crimes against humanity, war crimes and genocide.

The Khmer Rouge Government installed a genocidal regime and carried out atrocities that led to the deaths of a quarter of the Cambodian population between 1975 and 1979.
