Invitation to consultation on economic, social and cultural rights parallel report to United Nations committee; meeting in Auckland Wednesday 13 December 6pm
In March 2018, the UN’s Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights will examine the government’s report on New Zealand’s performance under the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights since the last review in 2012.
The Human Rights Foundation of Aotearoa New Zealand is intending to provide a parallel report to the forthcoming review by the United Nations ESCR Committee. In 2016 we provided a parallel report on the List of Issues Prior to Reporting and our report this time will update those issues and anything else that has become relevant since. We are keen to get feedback from the human rights NGO community on this and also to coordinate with other NGOs also intending to provide information to the ESCR Committee.
We have booked the Elizabeth Yates Room in the Ellen Melville Centre, 1 Freyberg Place, Auckland Central, on Wednesday 13 December 2017 at 6pm and hope that as many representatives of civil society can attend, despite the short notice.
Note that the Human Rights Commission has a more general meeting about UN treaty body reporting the following evening in South Auckland.
